Camp iCan

Childhood obesity is a major public health problem for the state of Arkansas. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), children with obesity are at a higher risk of having other chronic health conditions and diseases, such as asthma, sleep apnea, bone, and joint problems, and type 2 diabetes. COVID-19 has caused several parents to choose homeschooling or virtual learning for their student(s). The Arkansas Minority Health Commission’s Camp iCAN Recess can assist parents and home-school teachers with tools and resources to help promote physical activity and nutrition education in their alternate learning environments.
